It has been a rip-roaring day in the Armstrong home!
Two painters came to do repairs so the house is looking significantly better since we don't have blue tape and spackle patches everywhere we look. They will come again one more time to finish the kids' rooms and some other areas.
We mailed off our requests for all of the birth certificates & our marriage license. (That was a lot of work and it did feel good to mail them!)
And we got an important phone call today to schedule our two home study visits!!! We will meet at 6:30 pm on Monday 6/14 and then again the following week on 6/21!!!
That will give us plenty of time to get some things done and get our 10 hours of online training finished too.
After our second meeting, we will finish the needed in-person training as well.
From talking with the social worker, she said she should have her report done within two weeks after our last meeting (by beginning of July). After that, it goes to DCFS for approval (another 4-6 weeks) and then we can send it off to USCIS with our I-800A application which will take approximately 90 days to process. So, if all goes well, we should have everything in order (including the I-797C) in time to submit our Dossier in December.
While we are waiting for the home study draft approval from DCFS and then waiting on USCIS approval, that is when we'll focus on some of the more time-sensitive documents required for the Dossier - medical letters, employer letter, FBI clearances and the delightful psychological testing/evaluation/report.
There's much to do to - in addition to all the paperwork. "Lord, let us work diligently to prepare to receive our new family members and trust You with the results!"
